So you'd be okay with the media reporting martial law was declared because they can say whatever they want as long as
people stay home? Words matter. And I care because I have spoken with MANY in Davis County, including elderly, who are under the impression they CANNOT leave their homes for things they actually can. To them, and to many, "MANDATORY" means you are REQUIRED to stay in your home. You cannot leave. The very fact that a huge deal is being made about this, to many, means that they used to be able to go out for essential services, but now things have changed and they cannot. This doesn't change that at all, but to many people, all the hype about a NEW and MANDATORY order means things have changed. Indeed, this order changed very little at all, but the fact that it's being reported as some drastic new change is leading a lot to feel that way. When people are scared and frightened clear communication is essential as assumptions are made that are often inaccurate, which is happening in this case. My sister had to clarify this for our own parents who are 80 and live in Kaysville who said they and all their neighbors all assumed this meant they couldn't leave their home for anything.
