Speed is a bad metric, but it’s an easy measure
Speed isn’t a great metric due to the various factors that can influence it. Going uphill, riding into a headwind, and your body weight can make a huge difference. The best metric to go by is power output but you need a power meter which start around $300. Heart rate can be a good and cheap measure to gauge your intensity.

As far as speed goes, you’ll see fast group (A) and highly competitive armatures ride around 22-24 mph. The B group will be around 18-20 mph. C group will be around 15-18 mph and D group will be around 12-15 mph.

As far as a good speed for a weekend warrior I’d say between the B and C group would be a good range.
