Some countries with smaller populations like Taiwan and South Korea you mean... here, schools were restarted in
a few locations a couple weeks ago, and were shut down again due to to lingering new cases.

Guangzhou had FOUR new cases in five days last week. Liaoning had ONE. Clearly, this isn't over even in China.

Word is that schools will not resume until a count of 20 days can be met without new domestic cases province by province. Shanghai is on day 16. But the problem for the international schools now is that they have teachers OUTSIDE the country who cannot return. So even if notified to return, they would need 14 day quarantine before they could go to work from when they come back.

This puts Shanghai schools out to at least after the May 1-5 holiday period. Many of those international schools are only in session normally until May 29, so it might be that some will not restart again until after the summer holiday.

Chinese schools normally end June 26 this year, and so far, no change to that plan, but my wife does have a big meeting today for announcements from the school administration about cancelling their original spring break (Apr 28 - May 3) and how that is affected by return to school info.
