It may be true that the virus attacks the heme subunit, but he incorrectly
tweeted out the virus doesn’t attack the lung. In a small subset of severe cases, CT scans show severe fibrosis in the lung.
He provides a primary research article at the end of his tweet thread. I’ll take a closer look at it tomorrow, but it’s not published in a particularly high impact journal, and I’m not sure their lab is anything notable, so who knows.
