any/all conference champions, one spot to the best Indy team and the other remainng spots to the other highest ranked teams in an AP/Coaches poll or the BCS computer model.
Teams play "only" 10 games a year before the playoffs. That means the eventual champion and the 2nd place team (the loser in the championship game) plays 14 games; 16 teams down to 8, 8 teams down to 4, 4 teams down to 2, 2 teams down to 1.
The 10-game regular season will reduce injuries and also automatically give athletes more time to be "student-athletes", which is what they're supposed to be.
Rotate the locations of the playoff games to cities that already host the biggest bowl games so that more cities can share in the money spent during the playoffs.
