and for guys like Mike Leach in particular. He's been a father figure to thousands of students in his tenure as a coach. Literally, students coming from all shapes, sizes, races, etc.
I genuinely don't think he sees race. And if he does, I don't believe he sees it as a top of mind sensitivity.
People will fault him for that but I wonder if there's an argument that his experience and position, he might be more "woke" than some of his accusers.
Either way, as unfortunate as this experience is, the dialogue does help us gain more insight to one another and hopefully spurs a much needed...but balanced...dialogue.
