That ending would've changed EVERYTHING.
Nazi's throw it on the submarine and take it to Germany, with no idea what happened to everyone who marched off with it to open it.
In Germany, they find some new archeologist and priest of some sort to open it again. Hitler and his cabinet decide they all want to be there to see what's in this thing - and poof! They gone! Just like that, WW2 ends before it even gets started!
