I agree completely. I held out for a while for the exact reasons described by
the OP (lots of effort, kids don’t care, frankly my wife isn’t even a huge meat eater).
But I got one a month ago (discount was too good to pass up) and it’s been great. I’m smoking 4 racks of ribs today and even the kids are excited because they liked the last ones I smoked. I wouldn’t have predicted that. And it’s fun for me.
