It’s not so black and white. The idea of coming back to finish the
regular season wouldn’t be to get all 82 games in, it would be to get to 70 games to avoid complications with local TV contracts. So the Blazers would have 4 more games, and they’re currently 3.5 games out of the playoffs. What’s the point?

I don’t like the idea of him bailing on his teammates, as someone has to show up. But if the league resumes the regular season just to get to 70 games, they are putting players in these teams these teams in a bad position, where they are forced to re-start for a few meaningless games. The risk of injury would go up and it’s mostly just an effort to secure revenue (understandably). So, I see Lillard’s perspective.

He’s also probably lobbying for a legit shot at the playoffs, where more than just the top 8 from each conference would get in. He said he’d happily come back in that scenario.
