We probably got it 12 months or so after it was first released. It’s been fine for us. I don’t know what improvements GE has made since, but I have no reason to get a new one. My kids are pretty consistent in starting it up, but not so consistent in harvesting the ice when it’s done (so it just starts to melt and recycles). I wish there was a bell or something that notified me to empty the bin. For that matter, maybe there is and I just don’t know it. But overall, we’re happy with it.
