Bear proofing isn't all that hard. I'd just do it.
I mean - throw all the food in a stuff sack, take a rope and toss it over a limb to get the bag in the air, and you're done. It doesn't take much extra work.
I haven't camped in the Boulders for a few years - no idea what the bear population is like there.
