Key thing is that you have to buy tickets first, before reserving a date to use the tickets.

So if you go online to reserve a date, it will ask you to enter in your ticket numbers. If you haven't bought tickets yet, you'll need to do that first. If you buy tickets and the date you were planning on isn't available, you can apply the tickets for another date.
