I was living in Kansas with no cable and only a 14.4 K dial up modem. Luckily
that game was on an OTA network (NBC?). The next year the Jazz were playing the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals on the night before one of my final exams. The game was only available on cable, which I still did not have. So I sat in front of my computer screen until midnight hitting the refresh button on ESPN.com's score page over and over again and waiting the painstaking amount of time it took for the screen to refresh and reload with a 14.4K speed modem. The game was close and it ended at 10:00 p.m. pacific time (which was midnight for me).

My final was at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. I had to get up early to study a little and make sure I was there early (as was my custom for finals). In the middle of the final, I actually had a panic attack, fearing that wasting that two hours and not studying combined with less sleep than normal would make me fail the final. Then I started worrying about not being able to find a good job and support my family as a result. I had to leave and go calm down in the bathroom for a minute. I wound up with an "A."
