I understand why having the pitcher hit is better in concept, as it will supposedly add strategy, but in reality it’s just a waste of time. With starting pitchers pitching fewer innings and MLB bullpens getting deeper with more guys who throw hard, the decision on whether to let the pitcher hit or to pinch hit is already a given.
