Bert609 Intervention Needed
Which is why I worry about the future of Land Rover
Rover has an impressive customizable platform that can churn out different vehicles, but it also makes them less flexible. You can see that in marketing quotes regarding the Defender with "There is no market for rugged" or "The times have changed". This is really just cover for "We don't have the assembly capability and/or funding to make a new platform that can handle a traditional coil sprung live axle design"

Here you go, Land Rover:

Defender: D7x
Evoque: JLR PTA
Disco Sport: JLR PTA
Velar: D7a
Discovery: D7u
Range Rover Sport: D7u
Range Rover: D7u

This is a problem for Rover. The "x" in the D7, I believe means "heavy duty" which is the mods required to build the new Defender, but the DNA of the design is stuck within the limits of the Velar, Disco 5, Sport, AND Range Rover.

That's nuts to have 7 vehicles on 2 platforms, with 5 of the highest end on a single platform. It's also why the Defender was doomed to be IFS/IRS crosslinked air from the get go. The Engineers have done a fantastic job to set it apart, but I do worry about stuff like radiators in front of the wings.

Rover doesn't offer much versatility among its large lineup, yet they hide it VERY well.
