What think ye...a fair BCS compromise?
National Champion

East vs. West

This could work - thoughts?

* Split the Country down the middle: East|West
* Leave existing conferences as they currently stand
* Have rotating "tiers" like European Soccer

Start off year 2007 like this:

Western Division.................Easter Division

Tier 1 - "Elite League"..........Tier 1 - "Elite League"
* Pac-10 Confernce............* South Eastern Conference
* Big 12 Conference...........* Big 10 Conference

Tier 2 - "Premier League"........Tier 2 - "Premier League"
* MWC Conference..............* Atlantic Athletic Conference
* WAC Conference..............* Big East Conference

Tier 3 - "Select League".........Tier 3 - "Select League"
* Big Sky Conference..........* Conference USA
* Mid American Conference.....* Sun Belt Conference

Rules-
1) Play existing conference schedules, with a conference champion at the end of the year
---> conference champions will go to existing bowl games

2) The two conference champions from the "Premier League" and the "Select League" will advance up to the next "Tier" the following year, one going to one conference, the other going to the other conference.

3) The two bottom teams (one from each conference within that "tier") will drop down a "Tier" the following year, one going to one conference, the other going to the other conference.

4) The Western conference champions in the Elite League will play in a BCS bowl site, and the winner of that bowl game will go on to play the winner of the Eastern Elite League champions for the national title.

The Western and Eastern #2 teams will also face off in a BCS Bowl site.

There would be some initial mitching and boaning about which "tier" you initially got placed in...but, just win and you move up...lose, and you go down.

* Everyone will have a shot at a national title.
* Bowl games are preserved
* constant rotation of poor performing teams and high performing teams
* the chance to work yourself into the top tier, no matter who you are
* revenue sharing all the way around
* eventually, the conferences will "look" totally different due to rotations...but it's really just a name only thing, and a starting place
* a real national champion will be crowned
* no "extra" long schedules for a playoff system to avoid the stupid university presidents objections to a real playoff

I like it....a fair compromise.
