For one, safety was going to be a weak spot and now it can be a strength. And second the hybrid nickel spot isn't a big change for them. It's mostly letting a few of those guys play more naturally by not trying to force their bodies to do something it can't handle.
They're not pushing any safeties anywhere. They were really thin there and now they have depth. I guess we could argue Moore did but he was already getting time at corner last year.
I don't think we have too many LBs. BYU fans need to start developing the mindset of depth. We say we have too much talent that isn't on the field... P5's say welcome to the P5 world, that's called depth.
It's not just about getting the best 11 players on the field. They have to be the best at what they're doing. Why are we assuming Wilgar is one of the best 11 with him at DE? He's never been a DE, why assume he's better than everyone else there?
Wilgar, Kaufusi, Pili, Tanuvasa, those are your top 4 guys for either 2 or 3 spots depending on the base. That is depth. You quickly lose it when you go moving guys and have an injury.
