There is almost no way to prepare for the mayhem
at the beginning of the swim. Your heartrate will almost certainly spike as you are pushed and elbowed.

So my only recommendation is when things calm down purposefully take a minute to catch your breath and mentally calm down and then settle into your natural stroke. It's really easy to overswim at first and never feel comfortable.
