I've purchased from Carmax before...
* The salespeople are not well trained. They won't know anything about the car you are looking at... so make sure you do all of your research beforehand.

* The price is the price.. there is no haggling.

* They do offer (IMHO) the best-extended warrantee. They offer various milage/deductible options and the price will depend on the specific car. Its worth having them get you the price list so you can look at it.

* Some of their cars are priced higher than the market average. German & Luxury cars are actually better priced than your standard American, Japanese, and Korean cars.

* Get a trade-in price for your old car, even if you don't buy from them or plan to sell it to them. Other dealers will often offer more and having the trade-in sheet from carmax makes it easier.

If you find the car you want at CarMax... Just double-check that you can't find a better deal at other places. Most of the time saying "CarMax has the exact same car for $xxx" will get you a better deal.
