For the same reason. I used a mortgage broker originally because he told me he

could get me a special rate that only he had access to through his wholesale prices. Well, I called the same bank that he was getting me this "special price" through just to check if what he was saying was legit and they gave me the same rate with less fees. Turns out his "special rate" was just slapping more fees on there to pay himself with.
