some of the problem might be with our QB....
... WR's & TE's did just fine in years past when BYU QB's were good at reading the defense pre-snap and making quick decisions and getting rid of the ball quickly. BYU used to do a lot on timing patterns and the QB had to get rid of it quickly throwing to a spot on the field before the receiver made his break, trusting his WR to run a precise route and get to the spot he threw it to.

Nowadays it seems we only have QB's who prefer to hold the ball and extend plays with their legs. They roll out to one side of the field and it pulls the majority of the defense to that side as well, congesting the space.

When Romney was QBing last season he had no problems finding open recievers and TE's and didn't just dump it off to short yardage recievers. His yards per attempt was 8.8 compared to 7.5 for Wilson. He also didn't have problems putting the ball in the end zone, finished with 7 TD passes in 2 1/2 games compared to 11 for Wilson in 9 games. Bushman caught 3 of his 4 TD passes in games where Romney was QBing, only 1 from Wilson in 9 games.

Simply put, Romney just executes the play and finds the open guy. He doesn't make it difficult.
