I don’t remember if they awarded scholarships or not, but my brother was committed to them and was planning on joining the team when he got home from his mission in 2000. It got cut in 1999.

Yes it’s a Title IX casualty but they didn’t need to. It was more of a convenience that they cut it but it was a silly thing then and continues to be a silly thing that they don’t bring it back.
