But I’ve always been nervous about backpacking deep into Yellowstone for that very reason. Even in my local hikes in Jackson it’s on guard with bear spray in hand.
Wolves have yet to have human conflict in the area. Cougars have had minor issues. I’ve heard stories regarding both.
