I think the NCAA would make many exceptions this season to the normal rules re eligibility, team obligations. If BYU's schedule gets decimated because it loses all it's P5 opponents, the NCAA isn't going to expect BYU to saddle up and play 10 bo diddley techs. In other words, if OTHER teams cancel, how is it BYU's fault that they can't play 12 games?
BYU still has a football brand worth maintaining (granted they haven't done much in 10 years but still). I think it would be horrible for the team, fans, and brand to play 10 non-P5 programs and I don't think the NCAA would penalize BYU in any way for cancelling the season if P5 conferences are cancelling games.
