Local news in Minnesota led with the B1G story. They indicate that losing those

3 home games will cause the Gophers to forgo a significant chunk of change. If the whole football season gets cancelled, the Gophers would lose $75 millions.

Cancelling OOC for all fall sports also hurts because B1G women's volleyball is a revenue sport for many schools—3 B1G schools (Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota) all average over 5,000 a match and 3 more (Penn State, Michigan State, and Illinois) average over 3,000.

I don't see this as a conspiracy to hurt G5 teams. I think it driven by protecting their athletes and students by limiting those interactions they can.
