My son had a pitch thrown that he had to dive out of the way and fell back on his back to keep from getting hit. As he was trying to keep from getting killed, his bat crossed home plate as he was dropping the bat. Ump called it a strike. I was coaching this rec league game and I said "did he attempt to hit that ball...did he offer"? Ump said "it doesn't matter, bat crossed the plate". I turned around and walked away holding my tongue.
