something, then I want to spend enough time doing it to be good enough to enjoy myself while I'm doing that hobby.
One example is playing the guitar. If I wanted to be a great guitarist, I would have to dedicate my life to that at the exclusion of all else. But I have found that I can play well enough to enjoy what I'm playing if I practice a little on a regular basis and work on improving little by little. No one will mistake me for a great guitar player, that's for sure. And I am totally fine with that.
Given the limited amount of time I have in any given day or week for things like that, this necessarily limits the number of things I can get involved in. There are more things I would like to pick up as hobbies and become reasonably good at, but there just isn't enough time.
