I know a guy...
Who played for a smaller school about 20 years ago. Their scholarship was just a check they would deposit and then they'd have to pay for classes and books themselves.
One semester he took his 'scholarship' to vegas... and lost it all. His parents had to loan him the money so he didn't get kicked out 🙂
