I can't believe we're getting a quote for an in-ground pool tomorrow. I was
shocked that my wife is requesting this, she's not the type to spend big money on luxury type items. I'm totally not committed to the idea yet btw and I'm from central California where nearly everyone has a pool, including those who live in poor neighborhoods (except us, my dad was always too cheap). I really like the idea of getting the kids off screen time and exercising outside, and I've always thought public pools were disgusting. The pool season would be pretty short here, May through September without a heater, but that doesn't bother me either, I only swam during the summer in CA and it was still awesome. I just don't know if I'll be able to get over the sticker shock, $50k can buy a lot of vacations and other family memories. This is on the cheap end btw, a nice pool here can easily cost 100k+. If any of you guys have recently built a pool let me know if you have any suggestions or regrets.
