I am a thorough believer that Jopa was
totally oblivious to the point that he couldn't conceive something like that even happening.
Still doesn't mean he should have taken action.
But I think he died of a broken heart to the fact he realized he made a big mistake and let things happen, even if he couldn't conceive those things happening.
