I don’t understand why studios are releasing movies with 200+ million budgets

It seems unlikely in the current scenario that any movie will make enough to justify the production cost. Why don’t they sit on these movies for 6-12 months longer? Do the studios see some value in trying out the direct to home streaming model?

I hope Tenet breaks even financially. The movie cost $200 million to produce. And I'm also hopeful that more theaters

$200m to produce and that doesn’t typically count marketing costs, which can be substantial.
