Top of the foot and arch... Not really out by the toes.
So the whole top of the arch hurts and you can't step on it, and it's bruised and swollen.
A bad ankle looks about like that. A skilled trainer can usually tell the difference, but not always. A bad ankle sprain hurts all over the top of the foot and ankle. A lisfranc hurts in similar places.
With time (and of course an Mri), it is clearly seen.
A lot of lisfrancs are first diagnosed as ankle sprains in the er.
