The RV community is in love with the Harbor Freight generators, Predators.
The 3500 watt inverter is extremely popular with RVers and quiet enough to use in campgrounds when permitted.

I recently bought this for my home, 9000 watts for under $700. It's not quiet, but it'll run everything I need to run in an outage, and can also hook up to my RV and run it's A/C and all it's systems. I can also add a battery to this if I want to, for when I'm not home my wife can start it with a push of a button. Alternative gas kits are available online and are cheap.

I also have two 2000watt generators that I can run separately or in parallel. The first one I bought at Costco, it's a Yamaha branded generator. The 2nd one is identical, I bought it through Walmart and although it's not branded Yamaha, the owner's manual refers to it as a Yamaha throughout. $369 with the parallel kit and 30 amp pigtail.

I recently put them all together, added oil and they all started on the 1st or 2nd pull.
