On my mission, I was in the middle of Guatemala City and there was a huge grass park - several acres - full of mounds. One of them was being excavated and was a small temple where some folks had been buried. I suspect that the jungle is full of buildings here and there that were just overgrown. Probably not a ton as big as chichen itza or tikal or the like - but I'll be there are thousands of structures out there.
