to an SEC football game where the trailing team had the ball and they were too far away to even throw a Hail Mary. The pass they did throw was tipped and the defensive team and its fans started cheering. Except the ball carried forward to a receiver that was behind most of the defenders. The WR caught it and ran all the way to the end zone for the winning touchdown. The losing team's fans sat in stunned silence.
While less significant, the football memory seemed to sum up my experience.
