Actually, it's easier to get into the playoff than the NY6

If BYU finished the year in the Top 4, then they are guaranteed a playoff spot. BYU has no guarantees for an NY6. It is an "at-large" designation. The Top Ranking G5 school has a guaranteed spot in a NY6 game. BYU has to make the Top 4 or it could be relegated to the Frisco Bowl.

I think there are 3 at large spots for ny6 bowls not counting the playoffs.
