BYU could make it with a #12 ranking, depending on the rankings of the P5 champs
and Orange Bowl participants.

Based on current rankings, this is what the NY6 would look like:

Sugar Bowl (CFP): #1 Clemson(ACC) v. #4 Georgia
Rose Bowl (CFP): #2 Alabama(SEC) v. #3 Florida
Orange Bowl: #5 Notre Dame(ACC) v. #6 Ohio State(B1G)
Peach: #7 Auburn v. #8 Miami
Cotton: #9 Texas v. #10 Penn State
Fiesta: #11 UCF (G5) v. #14 Oregon (PAC)

So, BYU would need to rank ahead of #10 Penn State. I don't see that happening.

The good news is that with the 10-game SEC schedule, there will be more losses to go around in the SEC this year, so BYU would need to sneak in ahead of SEC #4 (Auburn, Texas A&M or Mississippi St.?) or ACC #3 (Miami or North Carolina) and the #2 team from both the Big 12 and PAC 12. I think undefeated BYU could sneak in ahead of 3-loss Mississippi State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and PAC schools.

So, basically, we are cheering for chaos.
