Tournament means more than regular season in every sport. Not sure that

BYU beat Utah earlier in the year and between common opponents BYU had a better record. For that game Utah did a great job exposing BYU’s weaknesses and also had a great night hitting. They certainly played better that game.
BYU lost in basketball to Utah last year. But nobody would say Utah had a better team last year. Utah didn’t even get close to making the NIT and BYU would have been a top 6 seed.
You’re looking at one game and saying well overall Utah was better because they won later in the year. It’s just not true.
And coaching. Oh geez. BYU has much better coaching in volleyball
