This is soccer. The quick kids who know what to do win the battles.
Some little kids just figure out how to score goals or win possession. My experience wasn’t that it was the big and strong kids.

When one son was in his first year, maybe 5 yrs old, a team we played twice had a kid who learned he could win the ball, dribble back towards his own goal, and dribble a long sweeping circle around the whole field for a nearly open goal because everyone would ball chase and follow him, clearing the other end of the field.

I remember another kid who was kind of small and average athletically, but he developed an amazing sixth sense for where to stand near the opponent’s goal to poach goals. He’d get a few every game just by having an uncanny ability to know where the ball would wind up when we were on attack.
