I've done this with my kids. I've told them they can sleep in our room if they get scared, but not in our bed.
We have a blanket on the floor at the foot of the bed.
Our youngest would end up there on the floor for a couple days a week but then after a month or so he stayed in his bed all night. He figured out he's more comfortable in his bed than on our floor.
