There are some things both sides (generally) agree the government needs to control such as public works like water, sewage lines and roads.

Beyond that conservatives stop and only tries to set rules for supply and demand to drive what people do.

Liberals want the government to control healthcare, what pronouns are used, who can own what, who can do what, can you even open your business... Modern liberals will take that agenda past the bill of rights.

I think either extreme is bad, for example national parks it totally a liberal thing but I know we all are glad we have them (that can go too far though) sadly the happy middle ground our county has thrived on for years is now being forced to either extreme, Trump is only there in response to to combat extreme liberalism started by Clinton and mostly Obama.
