but when they aren’t babysat by a coach or they are competing with kids with equal skill, they seem to falter if they don’t have a self starting mentality and desire to excel. Most kids don’t have that yet in HS so it is hard to know. It is also very tempting to grab the kid with all the natural skills hoping you can teach him self discipline. Most people are still trying to master self discipline way past their college years.
