1. Screen game. We have been so frustrated at the insistence by the offense to completely neglect a major part of the game of football--especially when the OL had blocking issues. And now that the OL is improved, the screen is a weapon because our hogs get upfield very, very well. This is long overdue.
2. YAC being a QB issue. It was obvious watching Taysom and Mangum that they could not lead a receiver so every throw was a comeback route or hitch, which stops the WR's momentum in order to complete the pass. Zach has brought back the over the top game to BYU and it has opened up the entire field. He is throwing guys open and allowing players to make plays!
That stat on Allgeier is not surprising. I think he's a next level talent. He finds holes, cuts well, and has an extra gear that might be as good or better than JW's with similar power.
And is Udo a LB in this D? It has been said that Fonua is too slow in coverage and it appears to be true based on these stats. Man press the outside, keep 2 safeties high, and send the rest with a spy against the running QB's. This should be our base defense.
