1. So BYU's DC is just game planning on the fly. It sure sounds like it. After watching 4.6 years of Kalani Ball, you seem to have correctly nailed the trend. But is it a smart trend. NO! A Base Defense is an alignment position like placing players on the chess board. But by the 3rd opponent game you should have enough film to break your base defense into the look and presentation assumptions that stop the typical and expected offense. Over the course of Kalani's 4 season, surrendering early points especially to lesser teams is a serious and continuing problem. To me it is a sign the DC is mailing it in with respect to game planning. BYU makes up for this by aggressively training each personnel group to know the opponent matchups and their tendencies. I love the last half of this work ethic, toss my cookies every beginning 9f the game as I watch teams eat the base defenses alive for 60-75 yards and 3-7 points. Surrender should not be an option.
2. Reread 1 above and tell me Tuiaki should continue as DC? Could you imagine ANY ORHER TOP 25 TEAM allowing its offense to be put in a hole like that game after game, season after season, over and over?
