Also amazing how they imitated other successful acts
And wrote stuff just as good. Not knocking the Beatles at all. Everybody imitates. But Paul would write a Beach Boys like tune and it would be great. John Lennon would write like Bob Dylan and they would produce a folk album like Rubber Soul and it would be great.
The only comparable talent (writing, arrangement, production, performance) to me in rock history is Freddie Mercury.
Of course, nothing touches the Beatles in terms of volume. I have my playlist of top 100 songs Paul McCartney at least significantly contributed to as a writer, and most people over 50 would recognize all of them.
