UMass, and ECU.
Nor can it explain beating Tennessee and SoCal and then being trashed by Washington at home given there were no significant injuries (yes, Ty’son went down during the UW game but we were already getting our butts handed to us at that point).
This team has had a host of issues. From QB to O line to the revolving door at RB1, the offense has had struggles that are much greater at fault for the ups and downs than the schedule.
We’d probably have a better defense right now if the offense hadn’t had so many issues and here’s why: the defense did just enough over the past two seasons so as to not take quite as much heat as the offense. Now that our offense has clicked every single week, the defense is taking heat and improvements are being demanded.
I think everybody, including Tom Holmoe, would like to see a more balanced season. If Jarom would like to start getting the opponents lined up, I’m sure he could be Tom’s guest.
