Not anymore. They’re about twenty miles from Utah at this point.
The plan to bring back the Grizzlies was agreed upon by the State of Wyoming and the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in the 70’s and was a compromise to keep them in the “Greater Yellowstone Area” and allow management (hunting) once they began to expand out of it. Last year the Feds determined this condition had been met and removed them from Federal protection which opened the door to allow states to begin managing the Grizzly population. Of course, Environmental groups backtracked on their word and filed a suit against the FWS and the State. A Federal judge in San Francisco sided with the environmentalists (big surprise), threw out the original terms and kept them protected and ever expanding.

Grizzlies aren’t black bears, and most folks who study them will tell you that their populations aren’t compatible with developed areas of people and livestock. It won’t end well for people or bears.
