What if playing in the lower tier led you back to
The championship game in the higher tier by winning all your games? Which happens in many sports. Play through the losers bracket and still get a shot at the regular championship.

So it gave you a shot at it... and then you won.,,

I’m all for a P5 schedule as I’ve posted before but we have the disadvantage of not being in a p5 conference. There is something to be said for balancing the schedule a little better. Even those in P5 conf don’t play the top teams every week. How about two big name upper tier P5s a year with three lower tier P5s a year and then other quality mid majors and Boise st or even one top p5 team per year with Boise and Utah?

BYU is in the conversation for the playoff this year or a NY6 with the schedule we have now. It’s so awesome to be in that conversation. People can tell BYU is good but all the hype and conversation comes from winning. Recruits like to play for a winner too. You’ve got to have some good games in there but don’t have to try and prove your Alabama to get what you want.

Look at the old BYU model and current Boise Model. Look at all the attention Boise gets by beating up on the Mountain west and then putting all they have into beating one or two p5 teams a year and usually only one upper tier one and when they pull it off they are in a NY6 bowl. Recruits and fans love that! Just win baby! I’m not so sure how much it helps to have a bunch of high profile teams if you don’t beat them. You’ve got to be winning at a higher level with at least a really great season every few years like 12-1 or 11-2.

I’ve posted before that i love the p5 games but there is something to be said and arguments to be made for a more balanced schedule. If the past hasn’t taught us that this year should. So much excitement and focus on the program right now. Being in the top ten, etc. and it’s because BYU is winning. It all starts there.
