They gave up 40+ points to 2 top 10 teams and defense was supposed to be their strength.

Granted, not a lot of teams are going to have wins against Top 10 teams, that's why those teams are in the Top 10. But if you've already tried, and failed, repeatedly, it's a tough argument to make that "we'll everyone else would have lost to those teams too". Assuming the SEC Championship is Alabama-Florida, there is 1 more loss to split between those 2 teams. If Florida loses, you will have 2 2-loss SEC teams in Florida and Georgia. Hard to pick Georgia over Florida since Florida won the head-to-head, was in the Conf Championship, and only lost to the #1 team in the country (that is a fairly consensus #1) and A&M, another top 5-10 team. Also hard to believe that 2 2-loss SEC teams will make it this year. There are going to be multiple undefeated and 1-loss teams in the group to choose from, so I don't think Georgia is much of a threat.
