I recently bought a Raspberry Pi 4B to use as a router. I have installed OpenWRT
and it is really fast and powerful as a router/firewall solution. I haven't switched over to it yet as I am learning how to setup everything I need in OpenWRT, but, with 4GB RAM, and a USB3 --> Ethernet adapter it has the two Ethernet ports needed for WAN and LAN connections.

I am really quite impressed with the performance of this thing.

Note only an RPi 4 will do for this application.
